用神话/玄学/宗教/伪科学术语来造一个科幻外皮，然后主题其实是很传统的探索人类内心。然后这次探索的是一个不愿意接触社会的内向技术宅，不愿意接受被女神感化后女神却离开自己的事实，决定要用技术来毁灭世界的故事背景底色，最终被没得到过父爱渐渐成长起来的废柴儿子阻止拯救了世界。
〈四星半〉新老顾客都可以收获满足的作品，诚意之作，但称不上神作。大气科幻的落脚点最后还是一对父子，这种对比本身像一则寓言。
“但我比你更早成长为了一个大人”。
这是一部让庵野导演回归起点的作品。
