The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 还好呀，故事虽然套路，但政治正确，音乐演员都挺好的。方中信还是那么帅，一颗星给他，一颗星给廖启智。

10月。实际上，就真的挺无聊的，也挺离谱。
并不感觉很烂，也算是智叔的一部遗作，不得不说，智叔演技一如既往的好，尤其是在游艇上的戏，真是很强势，表面上最后是正义战胜了恶势力，但没有智叔饰演的这个角色最后怎么也圆不回来了，庭审戏拿出赵警官录音真是让我出乎意料，还是金钱战胜了权势。方中信最后的那番话也很有韵味
简单说是两集<律政强人>港剧，但智斗感，演技力道全无，走个标准程序。

感觉像没有高潮，就很平缓的叙事，最后感觉还是资本家的胜利，如果不是有钱的爸爸，真要制裁有钱权的人，估计真会像隔壁沉默的真相那样惨烈吧，害
高文凭富家女做小三，酒吧被帅哥搭讪就上床。政二代道貌岸然，吵个架就把富家女砸死了。警察帮政二代处理案发现场，协助追杀证人。政爸爸帮儿子善后养凶杀人。富爸爸花钱让警察认罪得意真相大白。这他妈是个啥社会呀？最后大律师慷慨陈词，让人很难信服。
主要是，方中信现在，真的很难不有一些daddy issue的……
剧情还算紧凑，但制作一般，演员表现良莠不齐，整体中规中矩。这将会不会是第一部先上网络后上院线的院线片？！2.5星。。。
20220501，手机爱奇艺 挺讽刺的是片中努力追求的正义和公正是靠钱收买实现的。
怪闷的，有点尬。剧本其实还可以，但转折点和线索处理得非常低级。老辣律师利用程序漏洞帮当事人争取权益的点本来应该是闪光点，但也没把握好。
估计这单案子就无解
