The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 问题家庭的聪明孩子，跟录音师叔叔一起生活工作的记录。穿插了很多青少年的采访，似乎多是移民，了解大家对新生活的感受
7/10。 本该是一部感情张力还不错的片子。但问题在于叔侄的相互救赎感确实不足。男主和侄子的“缺陷”在一般人看来恐怕不是什么大问题（不够惨，还不如孩子他妈累）。因此，两人一路上的沟通与磨合显得也没那么动人。 贯穿始终的不同孩子们的采访，话题虽然丰富，但也总有一种“未完成”的感觉。 整部片也就显得平淡，但凤凰和小男孩的演技确实加分。尤其是这个boy咋这么小就有这么迷人的“忧郁”气质呢？！
一个“假想父亲”带娃的历程，剧情很少，对话很多。如此纯粹，如此温暖，如此赤诚。

“Let me ask you a question. Why does everything have to be like this kind of weird, eccentric thing that you do” “cause I like it” “but why not just do something normal” “what’s normal” “ok, fine, good point.” 这段对白简直就是A24风格的最好诠释，又怪又吸引人。
在后期转制黑白，演员选了华金的情况下，却拍出了可能是颁奖季最温柔的一部电影。最大的优点当然是形式上的，纪录片式的采访贯穿始终，主要人物的表达也经常是站在受访者的视角。在主题上则有点保守，还是孩子和中年人互相取暖疗伤那套东西。不过在对原生家庭、亲子关系探讨越发极端的今天，这样菊次郎式的处理反而是一种另类了。

叔侄二人的日常交流和对青少年的采访都是观人观己的过程，成人和孩童其实并没有那么界限分明，这是个蛮有趣的角度。又用到了Éthiopiques 21: Piano Solo里的曲子，上一次好像是《波尔图》，平添一丝温柔趣味。

小刘塞了一大袋水果给我叫我回家看这部片子，看完给她发“我的感受是可能慢下来跟每个人相处都会感受到点不一样的东西，但事实上大家都太急了”，她说“那是因为人生短暂！”，我也得因为急着赶路忘记一些事情
又是一部成人通过儿童找寻自我的电影，和熊孩子在一起的时光，看得我好焦虑
很温柔的一部电影，成年人和儿童建立情感和过程是非常动人的。我也有点发现，这个时代的小朋友们的表达能力和认知程度真的很让人惊讶。
不停顿一下真看不下去。看看停停发现惊喜连连。灰色调好高级哈哈哈。
