The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 虽然讲述的是美国故事，但情绪表达挺东方，钢琴配乐也挺东方。通俗的讲，都是天涯沦落人，伤心人。离开人群久了，回不去了。还有那些只有自己到过，被自然感动过的瞬间。于是想，50岁也上路吧。

在这个潦倒的时代，她不得不逃离，即便些许留恋与施舍，也换不来心灵的慰藉，因为这是她为数不多的高贵。科恩嫂这个角色塑造得太棒了，影后有希望。
孤寡老人探索生命归宿的公路之旅。比较平静的一部戏，讲述了人到晚年的女主，却失去家和伴侣，被迫以车为家独自流浪。感觉和香港的《浊水漂流》有些异曲同工之妙，同样是边缘阶层的“游牧族”，在无依无靠中熬着人生最后的时光，背负生存的尊严，思考着生命的归宿到底何去何从。
