The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 某团队的二流配乐也能尬吹？除了配乐还有什么？没看出所谓史诗巨作，只看到对各种视听技术的滥用…在老套和无节制这块确实快和诺兰双骄了😅
总的来说，我个人是非常喜欢这部电影，虽然未必适合所有人。太期待接下来的所有续集了！！！

《沙丘》是这么多年看过最特别的一部影片，剧情相当拖沓，几乎一看到开头就知道结尾了，相当于披着科幻外衣的王子复仇记。
场景太美了，特有的质感让人着迷。光影中的甜茶好好看。虽然看评价好多吐槽情节老套，几十年前的设定放在现在确实有局限。不过看到蜻蜓扑翼机在烈烈风沙中盘旋在绵延不绝的沙丘之上，望着被战火纷飞点亮的夜色，忽然想起那句“我曾见太空战舰在猎户星座旁熊熊燃烧”。恢宏而压抑，遥远又悲凉的未来战争的一个缩影，忽然在我眼前闪现几秒，它不完美，甚至有些缺点，但维伦纽瓦拍出了那种氛围。
在白忙之中抽出两个半小时来看他，为2021年的观影史收了个绝美的尾，值了。
怪无语的…荷里活巨制常规的酷炫画面，其他一言难尽…姐妹会、为什么非得塞进去一个指南救世主？该不会长到七八岁了妈还非得带着他去女厕吧…
典型的维伦纽瓦，用慢的不行的节奏讲宏大主题，然而这么个抽丝剥茧后老套的王子复仇记，而且居然剩下还有好几部，真的看得人内心毫无波澜
好看要说三遍，杨紫琼是真的slay, 没想到一个脑洞科幻喜剧能跟中华家庭文化戏结合的这么奇妙，片里还有各种迷影致敬库布里克成龙王家卫等场景，真的不知道比沙雕crazy rich asians高到哪里去了
我有預感我必須去看這部電影，我覺得我也是天選之人!!!
美！我好了！目前流行的一种说法很对，沙丘如果不是维维拍的话可能就真没法看了。现在这又BDO又阴郁，赞达娅还时不时来放下光，审美契合度过高，这0点场2D IMax看得我太可以了。但希望维维拍完part 2就放手这个系列，毕竟沙丘抛开在几十年前算得上雄奇的想象力和所谓的哲思，故事本质就是元祖太空龙傲天🤪，再有视觉表达力的导演也很难撑三部不重复吧
这部电影从今年九月首映后被夸得天花乱坠到8分起步，再到现在7.6确实是它本身有点问题。它从某些方面来讲也是个神作，不过还蛮挑人看的，喜欢的人可以十刷不嫌多，我这样看不太明白的会觉得不知所云。画面除了美轮美奂再没有别的词语可以形容，配乐也是维伦纽瓦习惯的宏大深邃。但这对剧情党来说就是让人犯困的范本。每个镜头拿出来看都是一件艺术品，但艺术品就是艺术品，不叫电影。
实在对这种宏大叙事的科幻片不感兴趣，这种科幻设定事实上对人物和情节没什么太大用处，基本照搬现实的冷战背景、宗教叙事，争夺来争夺去，又是个天选之子的成长之路，好疲惫，如果只是去电影院看影像行吧。
……作为一个独立的电影看，确实可看性也太低了；男主的眼神空洞得要命，台词也差。
剧情上文戏虽然很多，节奏也偏慢，但行之有效，戏剧张力很强，毕竟要把小说里许多庞大而繁杂的世界观交代清楚，太不容易！人家英文片名也带有Part One，就是个序，真的大戏必在后头。

看完就会明白为什么一定要在大荧幕上观看，节奏如配乐一般缓慢，也确实像zandaya说的一般“只是个开始”，奥斯卡爹地贡献了年度最美胴体，瑞贝卡妈咪批纱的模样是大漠最美。作为开篇无功无过。

从电影对于小说的还原来说，已经做得相当不错，尽管保罗显得有些神经质，搞得有点汉姆雷特了，但是总体上不失分，而且作为电影还原了小说中杀虫的场景，尽管导演有所发挥，但是非常的节制，所以整部电影还是保持了想当的流畅。当然，故事情节只讲述了一半的故事，不过六本小说，应该能够讲不短的故事，我们不妨慢慢看电影能不能拍成连续剧，让原著党能够大饱眼福。
