The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 当你凝视深渊的时候，深渊也在凝视你：刚乔迁新居的热恋情侣在因为好奇心从无意中偷窥邻居夫妇赤膊上阵、盘肠大战，到一步步陷入肉体、快感和诱惑的欲海沉沦，在偷窥与被偷窥中，一张张高清照片让个人隐私荡然无存，甚至引来了死神的光顾；然而螳螂捕蝉，黄雀在后，善恶到头终有报，玩弄人心的衣冠禽兽也必将受到受害者绝望的反戈一击。被荷尔蒙操纵的痴男怨女们，永远理不清肉欲和爱情的先来后到。
创意明显借鉴希区柯克的《后窗》，最后10分钟有画蛇添足之嫌～
胸是最大的卖点，因此选角的。然后是反转加反转，电影寓意在对白中也传递出去了。

有点儿情色片感觉的悬疑片，看着挺有趣的，就是结局大可不必。
前面做的很好啊，中间那个又长又欲的性爱场面毫无意义，悬疑线掉到最后其实都能猜出来的，比想象中的好一点吧

渣男，渣女，一部蠢电影。
截止到Pippa和Seb搅一起是好作品，加上后面的反转又反转反而虎头蛇尾
反转了2次，讽刺了人们对于隐私这件事的态度，整体还不错。
后半段有点崩了。每次看这种偷窥题材的电影总是让我反复确认希区柯克的《后窗》是多么牛逼。
女主身材真好！该死的正义感令人作呕！被套路的人生才是常态
大概是本年度给出的第一个五星。这部电影绝不是神作，只是非常对我胃口，我认为这种风格的惊悚，是未来最应挖掘的一个领域。我认为这才是高级恐怖，将惊悚的故事娓娓道来，没有一惊一乍，反而让你浑身恶寒又汗毛直立。（前半段偷窥的剧情让我深陷其中，我大概也是有一些偷窥癖的，但是话说回来，每一个深爱的电影的人，大概都有一些偷窥癖，人生无趣，窥窃电影里别人的璀璨激烈来豢养自己平淡的精神世界）
26 Mar 2022。反轉再反轉感覺自己也帶進角色的偷窺角度有點意思 這是一則很有啟發作用的伊索寓言式的電影 愛人肉莫名傷害造謠生事的鍵盤俠們請慢慢品味 結尾有點大快人心。
人性的阴暗面一旦被放大…那这世界应该不存在好人
这片子真的有点尴尬，前半段的窥中窥的设计很出彩，如果到女主去展览现场发现自己被设计了就结束的话，至少值4星，加上三个美女帅哥的肉体可以上5星。但她偏偏要复仇，就画蛇添足沦为平庸之作了。
#TIFF21 第34场 压抑痛苦，梅拉尼真是掌握了我的痛点，若不是中午抢北影票能暂停喘口气，我是真没办法一口气看完这片的。
